Microneedling - Cosmetic procedure for Skin Rejuvenation
Microneedling (and its variations -see below) has become one of the most popular cosmetic treatments for several reasons. It is a versatile treatment that can treat a variety of skin concerns. It uses the body’s healing process to help improve the skin, it is safe for all skin types, and the recovery is quick.

1. BASIC Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that involves puncturing the skin with tiny, sterilized needles using a handheld drum or pen-shaped device. These tiny wounds cause the skin to produce more collagen and elastin by stimulating the skin to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling. This process heals and helps to rejuvenate the skin. Microneedling can be used to treat things like acne scars, sun damage, surgical scars, burns, enlarged pores, wrinkles, and stretch marks.

2. Microneedling Combined with PRP - Perhaps you’ve also heard of microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) – popularly known as the “vampire facial.” PRP microneedling, a cutting-edge cosmetic procedure, synergizes the regenerative potential of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) with the established advantages of microneedling.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy uses the infusion of concentrated platelets harvested from the patient’s blood to accelerate healing in a specific area. It contains two elements – plasma, the liquid portion of the blood, and platelets. The platelets play a vital role in healing and contain growth factors that stimulate cell reproduction and tissue regeneration in the treated area. The patient’s blood is obtained through a simple blood draw and placed in a centrifuge to spin to create this platelet-rich plasma. The centrifuge is necessary to separate the platelets from the remainder of the blood and create a concentrate referred to as platelet rich plasma. Because the treatments use a patient’s own blood, PRP infusions are safe and can be administered alone or in conjunction with other procedures.
PRP is a wonderful addition to microneedling. PRP can enhance collagen and elastin production in deeper skin levels. Microneedling with PRP effectively treats acne scars, surgical scars, wrinkles, and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, large pores, uneven skin texture irregularities, and it helps to decrease the appearance of stretch marks.
The addition of PRP to microneedling produces superior results over microneedling alone.
3. Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that combines traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy, using tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin while simultaneously delivering heat from radiofrequency waves, which stimulates collagen and elastin production to improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles, and tighten lax skin; essentially offering more noticeable results than standard microneedling alone.
The treatment is a form of controlled skin injury. The damage stimulates the growth of healthy new skin. The skin that grows back is thicker and smoother. This treatment can target: fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, appearance of large pores, acne scars, scars from injury or surgery, hyperpigmentation, loose, sagging skin, cellulite, hyperhidrosis.
RF- microneedling can be combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Who’s an ideal candidate for microneedling procedures?
Microneedling and its variation of therapy are considered safe, but it isn’t appropriate for everyone. You may be an ideal candidate if you are in good health, have early signs of aging, have realistic expectations.

Alternatively, you should avoid the treatment if you: currently or recently used Accutane, have an active cold sore breakout, have a skin infection, have a moderate to severe skin disease (like psoriasis), are receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy, are pregnant, are taking anticoagulants, have a history of keloids, hypertrophic scarring, or poor wound healing.
Conclusion: Microneedling treatments are effective interventions that can be used repeatedly and safely to regenerate and rejuvenate your skin.
